A sixth-grader from Branson has secured a spot to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, May 26-31, in Washington D.C. Kunal Patel, who attends Branson's Cedar Ridge Intermediate, will compete in the national event after winning a regional competition. On March 25, Patel won the 2024 Association for Children’s Educational Sponsorship Regional Missouri Spelling Bee, which was in Rolla.

Disney On Ice has become an annual event in Kansas City, but now it could become a showcase for a local figure skater. An Oak Park High School figure skater sent in her resume, and two hours later, she was called for an "in-person" audition. Google announced recently that in addition to building its 1 billion dollar data center in Kansas City, the company will also be investing in area schools. They were intrigued to find out why their class wasn’t taking place in their regular classroom. The Columbia Public Schools “prize patrol” snuck through the halls of various school buildings Tuesday, surprising seven district educators with an award celebrating their excellence. Fulton High School will begin offering a course next school year for students interested in firefighting as a career. Beginning in the fall, interested seniors will be eligible to take Firefighter 1 and 2 through a partnership with the Fulton Fire Department. Since 2018, tiny houses have popped up in KCMO for Veterans experiencing homelessness. It’s a project that continues to see community support and recently some Center High School students found a way to make the village feel even more like home. The tiny homes come furnished when Vets move in, but currently outside each home there isn’t a permanent space to sit. Center High School Advanced Woodshop classes are changing that.

Students from 11 counties united in Northwest Missouri for the district conference of the Future Business Leaders of America. The conference is a competitive event held at Missouri Western State University for members of each high school’s FBLA club to qualify for the state tournament.
