Board Candidate Filing and Elections Archived Webinar

Board Candidate filing for the April elections is fast approaching.  Make sure your district is prepared!  This archived webinar discusses candidate qualifications, filing procedures, personal financial disclosure statements, the board reorganization meeting and other legal and policy issues related to elections.  This webinar is specifically designed for the superintendent, board secretary and other district employees responsible for candidate filing or answering candidate questions.

New Laws Webinar Series – Free

The 2018 Missouri Legislature passed a number of bills that will impact Missouri public schools. Some of these laws could impact your district immediately. For that reason, MSBA is hosting the following FREE webinars to assist member districts in better understanding the law. All of these laws go into effect on August 28th, so now is the time to learn! All webinars will begin at 1 p.m. and will last no longer than an hour. Board members who attend are eligible for .5 Certified Board Member (CBM) credit.

  • Tuesday, July 17: Missouri’s New Collective Bargaining Laws
    Missouri has new statutes that will dramatically impact school district relations with employee professional organizations and labor unions. This webinar will discuss the new rules for union organization, recertification, the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements and what needs to be included in collective bargaining agreements.

  • Thursday, July 19: Virtual Courses  |  CBM Form
    A new Missouri law allows parents and students to select virtual courses from a DESE-approved list and requires the district to pay for them. This webinar will discuss this new requirements and what districts need to be doing to prepare for this new law.

  • Tuesday, July 24: The New Whistleblower Law and How It Will Impact Staff Relations | CBM Form
    A new Missouri law restricts a school district’s ability to discipline an employee for speech related to the district. This law is even more restrictive than the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Learn what the new requirements are before staff return for the new school year!
