School Laws
MSBA’s school attorneys provide board members and superintendents information regarding current school law and court decisions. The legal department also provides administrative support for the Council of School Attorneys to assist school districts. Legal documents are available to members only and require a login and password.
According to Missouri legal ethics rules MSBA attorneys can only serve school districts in their capacity as MSBA members, which includes legal information, policy, leadership services and advocacy. When an MSBA attorney determines that a matter may exceed this scope of service, the member will be advised to seek direct counsel. See MSBA’s Council of School Attorneys.
